Thank you to everyone who responded to our last post requesting help with fundraising. Because of your donations, we were able to move forward with widening the bathroom door so that we can walk in easily with Niko, or move the wheelchair through if need be.

We’re grateful to have so many friends coming by to visit, and the wonderful dinners you all have prepared and meals that you’ve shared with us.

Eleni Jr. left on Tuesday so we are adjusting to the situation without her again but looking forward to another visit from her soon. It was a wonderful visit from Eleni. It’s easy to get caught up in a routine of appointments and treatments and medication schedules – and that continued – but we also made time for many special moments together as a family, looking at old photos and telling stories. It’s something we are trying to be more conscious of, how to schedule “quality time” along with the routine of not-so-fun medical essentials.

In treatment related news, Niko started another round of the Tocagen clinical trial drug, 5-FC, and when he is done with that in 5 days he’ll move on to his next cycle of chemotherapy.
